To be eligible to be a Rose Escort, you must:

Be between 21 and 30 years of age.

Be unmarried or never been married.

Be born in Ireland or of Irish origin by virtue of one of your ancestors having been born in Ireland.

Be available for Selection events and if selected be available for the International Festival events

International Escorts’ 1Life Charity Drive

The Rose of Tralee International Festival has selected 1Life to be one of its 2011 Festival charity partners.

Through its association with 1Life the Festival hopes to heighten awareness of suicide amongst the Roses’ and Escorts’ age group, and the avenues of assistance that its 1Life initiative can offer.

The 1Life Suicide Prevention Helpline (Freephone 1 800 24 7 100) is a 24-hour suicide prevention helpline for anyone in suicidal distress. Professional counsellors and highly trained volunteers respond to calls 7-days a week to support callers in need of help.

Services offered by the 1Life helpline include telephone counselling, face-to-face counselling, cyber counselling and texting support (text “Help” to 51444 – standard text rates apply).

In 2010 the Escorts undertook a special fundraising campaign by selling raffle lines to raise funds to support the delivery of 1Life services.
