The Role of an Escort 

As an Escort your primary role is to look after your Rose and ensure her time at the Festival is a memorable and enjoyable experience. You will attend events like the Gala Rose Ball and the Rose Parades with your Rose and enjoy five days of Festival entertainment. 

Your duties include:

  • Being an ambassador for the objectives, traditions and ethos of the Rose of Tralee International Festival.
  • Supporting and assisting your Rose.
  • Providing a supporting role to all the 32 Roses.
  • Working as a team with all the Escorts, the Roses, the Escort Liaison Team and the Festival Management Team in the delivery of the Rose of Tralee International Festival.
  • Acting as a spokesperson for yourself, your community, your sponsor, your Rose and the Festival.
  • Undertaking duties, functions, activities for a Rose of Tralee Sponsor or Charity Partner.
  • Showing commitment and responsibility.


To be eligible to be an Escort, you must: 

  • Be between 21 and 30 years of age.
  • Be unmarried or never been married.
  • Be born in Ireland or of Irish origin by virtue of one of your ancestors having been born in Ireland.
  • Be available for Selection events and if selected be available for the International Festival events
